Awesome New Enamels by Sandra McEwen

I love everything about Sandra’s McEwen’s work.  Her consummate skill as an enamelist is apparent immediately.  The subtle color gradations, the depth, the luminosity, the fine metal work, all reveal the hand of someone who knows her medium well enough to work with absolute freedom within it.  But more than that, I love her style.  I think her portrayals of animals are so sensitive, evoking a sense of character in what she portrays that really speaks to me.  And I find her overall sense of composition very inviting.  It is rare that I buy a piece of fine jewelry for my wife (mainly because it’s expensive!) but I gave Laura a pair of earrings made by Sandra for our 30th anniversary!  You can see Sandra’s work locally at the Piedmont Craftsmen Fair and the Carolina Designer Craftsmen Show this fall.
